This is the application of a medical solution to remove the upper layers of the skin and excess pigmentation. This can be used to treat acne scars, dull and sallow aged skin and pigmentation problems. The therapy smoothes the skin texture and increases the skin turnover time to give the skin a healthy, vibrant glow. Fine lines are softened and brown spots and patchy areas are evened out. Pore size and excess oil secretion can also be improved.
After application of the peeling solution, patients feel an itching or warm sensation but no pain. The solution is neutralised with a soothing cream and the face is iced immediately.
Post treatment, there can be mild flaking or pinkness of the skin which can last from a few days to a week. Make up can easily be applied on to disguise the flaky skin during this period. Male patients can always say that they have spent a bit too much time in the sun!
